Get Outdoors and In Shape: Central Park Fitness

New York’s best outdoor gym offers a variety of ways to strengthen, tone and train your body to achieve fitness goals.


Central Park Circuit

Thanks to the Metzger-Price Fund, there are free, drop-in workout classes for adults. Meet by the East Meadow to join from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays (May 12-June 18 and July 7-August 27). The classes uses the park’s natural surroundings to test your body. You can also find a few exercises that you can do on your own schedule with this downloadable PDF.

Fitness Walking

Try health and race walking from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturdays as you enjoy the park and bump up your heart rate. Bring a friend or meet new people with this free program co-presented with the New York Walkers Club. To get started, meet at North Meadow Recreation Center (Mid-Park at 97th Street).

From 6:30-7:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, join fellow New Yorkers and practice yoga in the park! For $15, follow The Yoga Trail instructor as you unwind your mind and improve your health in the center of the city! Book your class online.
